I completed a BSc in Psychology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where I also did an MSc. I then did a 4-year PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London, investigating implicit emotional reactivity despite unawareness in Alzheimer’s disease. I returned to Brazil to take a postdoctoral position at PUC-Rio, where I am currently associate professor, also working as a visiting researcher at King’s College London and as a collaborator at the Institute of Psychiatry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
My main area of interest is self-awareness in clinical groups, using a variety of methods to explore this topic in neurological and psychiatric patients. I’ve been a FAPERJ Young Scientist since 2016 and a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow since 2018. From 2016-2019, I was a Newton Advanced Fellow by the Royal Society and Academy of Medical Sciences, UK. In 2019, I was presented with the International Neuropsychological Society Early Career Award for my contribution to research in the area of brain-behaviour relationships.
