Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory (LaPE)

The Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory (LaPE), since 2018, study the relationship between mind and body in the context of physical exercise and mental health. Education, research and extension activities are carried out at LaPE, which are aimed at understanding affective responses to exercise, physical performance and body integrative practices in mental health

LaPE, located on the School of Physical Education and Sports (EEFD/UFRJ), has some offices with computers, projection room, meeting room, canteen, room for capturing EEG ECG signals. Exercise equipment such as treadmills and bicycles, as well as biofeedback equipment, ergospirometer and heart rate monitors.

LaPE has 2 research nucleus: performance and mental health. The performance nucleus is coordinated by Professor Eduardo Portugal with the research line: Exercise Psychophysiology: Application to the Understanding of Mental Health and Sports Performance. The mental health nucleus is coordinated by Prof. Helena Moraes with the lines of research: Corporal integrative practices in mental health and Interoception and physical performance.
