The Laboratory of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (LAPIA) aims to contribute to the
expansion of scientific evidence on mental health in childhood and adolescence. We
work at the interface between neuroscience and clinical practice, seeking to
understand how mental disorders are related to changes in brain development.
The laboratory has a multidisciplinary team of undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and
postdoctoral students from different areas of training, including medicine, psychology,
occupational therapy, and pedagogy. It is coordinated by Professor Laiana Quagliato,
associate professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry at
UFRJ.
