Marleide da Mota Gomes, MD, Ph.D. has a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro-UFRJ (1974), a Master’s in Neurology from UFRJ (1980), a Master’s in Clinical Epidemiology – MacMaster University (1986), Ph.D. in Neurology at UFRJ (1989), “free professor” of neurology at Universidade Gama Filho (1994), she has a law degree from Universidade Estácio de Sá (2015.2-2019.1) / OAB.

Since 1979 she has been a professor at the Faculty of Medicine-UFRJ. She holds the titles of specialist in neurology, clinical physiology, and sleep by the Brazilian Academy of Neurology. She has had intense activity in clinical neurology at the Institute of Neurology-UFRJ, University Hospital-UFRJ, hospitals at the Ministry of Health-RJ, in addition to public health at the Ministry of Health-Brasília. Today, she stands out among her activities, research in epilepsy and sleep, and the history of neurology and psychiatry.
