LINPES is made up of several laboratories that research different aspects of the psychological and psychiatric impact of traumatic events and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in victims of urban violence. LINPES includes the PTSD care and research outpatient clinic, which since 2003 has provided assistance, in a multidisciplinary and individualized manner, to victims of violence. It welcomes, screens and identifies cases and offers medical treatment, cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychoeducation for patients and their families. In 2019, there was an increase of one shift in the PTSD clinic, with the participation of second-year residents in Psychiatry. Linpes is coordinated by Prof. William Berger (Faculty of Medicine – UFRJ).
